The Seaside is a tourist hostel so a passport, ticket, or
airline generated itinerary leaving the state is required to stay
here.
The Seaside Hawaiian Hostel is the most centrally located of all
the hostels, tucked away in the heart of Waikiki, just off Kuhio Avenue. We are
a one minute walk from the International Marketplace, numerous ethnic
restaurants and a five minute walk from world famous Waikiki Beach and the Royal
Hawaiian Shopping Center. Ala Wai Canal, Waikiki's most popular jogging/walking
course, is ? block away from our front door. We offer free hikes, tours and/or
drop-offs. When you are ready to explore, a major bus-stop is just steps away
($2 gets you all around the island !).
Though we are in the bustling
center of Waikiki, we are set back off the street and we enforce quiet hours and
partying is not allowed in the rooms so a good night's sleep is more than just a
promise. Because we aren't hemmed in by high rise buildings, pleasant Hawaiian
trade winds reach your room, providing natural air conditioning. Our large,
enclosed Banyan courtyard, with its 80-year old native foliage and
European-style Coffee Bar, provides a 'Green Oasis' of tranquility: guests may
mingle and enjoy board games, our paperback & DVD library and large screen
cable TV.

Our two story hostel provides clean guestrooms,
both private and dormitory-style. We have a full kitchen with well-stocked spice

Seaside Hawaiian Hostel is centrally located in Waikiki. Take any
Waikiki bus and get off at Kuhio and Seaside. The bus stops in front of the
Trade Center. Cross Kuhio and stay on the righthand side of Seaside. The Seaside
Hostel sign is on a yellow surfboard about 200 metres from the
corner.
The hostel offers male, female and co-ed dorms. The dorms have
six bunkbeds, their own bathroom facilities, and a floor fan. The bunkbeds have
privacy curtains and a locker with a combination lock is allocated to every
guest. The bathrooms are reasonably clean. Towels and linen are
provided.
The courtyard is huge with a big screen TV, several tables and
chairs, as well as a rack with surf and boogie boards. The common areas, which
include the bar, are well-kept and clean. Spotless fridges are available to
store food and water, and laundry facilities and two public phones are available
for use.
The common room offers a lot of info on island activities, bus
routes, and other hostels. Two Internet computers are available to guests. The
password is provided at check-in.
The kitchen is very well-equipped with
a microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, and enough dishes, mugs, and cutlery. The
hand towels are regularly replaced and the kitchen is a pleasure to use. There
are even cookbooks available! Breakfast (toast, eggs, and coffee)is
included.
Judy, the manager, is often around. She is not only a hard
worker, but also cheerful and very helpful. The hostel has a relaxed atmosphere
and most travellers hang out in the nice banyan courtyard or at the computers.
